Danielle Shaw, MD

Pediatrician/ Staff Psychiatrist
Casa Pacifica Center for Children and Families

Affinity Group Facilitator

Dr. Shaw is a native Californian who completed her education in California public schools. She graduated from medical school at UC Irvine in 1993, and completed her training in pediatrics at UCI in 1996.

Dr. Shaw then moved to Ventura County, where she worked for two medical groups prior to opening her solo pediatric practice in 2004. As a pediatrician, she was not well prepared to deal with the mental health issues she saw in her practice, and struggled to find mental health services for pediatric patients in her community.  She felt compassion for the youth and their families who struggled with mental health issues.

Dr. Shaw has been active in the medical community and participated in medical mission trips to Mexico and Romania. In 2013, after a medical mission trip to Africa, she closed her pediatric practice to train in general and child and adolescent psychiatry in Augusta, Georgia. In 2017 after graduation, she traveled and then passed her psychiatry board examination in Paris, before circumnavigating the globe. While in Russia, she lectured to family medicine physicians about Psychosocial Aspects of Rheumatologic Diseases.

In February 2018, Dr. Shaw joined Casa Pacifica Center for Children and Families as their Staff Psychiatrist. The following summer, she presented a poster of her case series on ADHD and sleep in Prague at the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professionals.

Dr. Shaw enjoys learning more about treating the youth she sees at Casa Pacifica. She founded a local Pediatric Mental Health Collaborative to bring pediatricians together with local mental health professionals. She is also on the American Academy of Pediatrics CA Chapter 2 ACEs Committee and remains involved in the local medical community. She enjoys ballroom dancing, hiking, gardening and would love to someday return to horseback riding.
